How do the kilometre bundles work?
When you apply for your car, you choose the kilometre bundle that fits your expected use.
During and at the end of your lease agreement term, we look at the actual kilometres driven. Is this amount inferior or superior to the bundle ? If this places you in a different bundle, you pay the rate for that bundle. If it is a lower bundle, you are reimbursed the difference, if it is higher, you pay the additional charge.
What happens if I drive MORE kilometres than I had estimated?
If the actual amount of kilometres that you have driven is more than your chosen kilometre bundle, you will have to pay the additional charge.
For example:
- In the case of a car, the rate for the kilometre bundle steps is € 25 per month.
- During the application of your lease contract you thought you would be driving between 15,000 and 20,000 km per year. So you chose this bundle.
- However, after one year you have driven 22,500 km. This amount fits in one bundle higher: in the bundle “20,000 - 25,000 km”.
Therefore, you will have to pay an additional charge of 12 x € 25 = € 300.

What happens if I drive LESS kilometres than I estimated?
This can have an impact on your monthly amount. If your lower mileage places you in a lower bundle you are reimbursed the difference.
For example:
- For a car, the rate of the kilometre bundle steps is for instance € 25 per month. This amount is different for every car.
- During the application for your lease contract, you presume to be driving between 15,000 and 20,000 km per year. So you chose this bundle.
- After one year you have only driven 13.500 km. This amount falls one bundle lower: in the bundle “10.000 - 15,000 km”.
- Therefore at the settlement you are reimbursed 12 x € 25= € 300.
If, during the term of your contract, you notice that the mileage allowance you have chosen does not match your driving behaviour, please contact the Private Lease team on +32 (0)2 722 61 60.
What happens if I have the largest bundle (max. 30,000 km) and I drive more kilometres?
Above the maximum, a charge will be applied of 10 cents per kilometre. You are not allowed to drive more than 150,000 km per year.
Where and how can I report the number of mileages I have driven?
- Log onto My LeasePlan
- Next to ‘Most Recent Mileage’, click ‘Change’
- Update your mileage
What is a credit check?
If you decide to lease a car, we will first do a preliminary credit check. This is done based on the data you filled in. Afterwards, this check is carried out again based on the proof of income provided to make sure that you can pay the agreed monthly amount without any problems. LeasePlan works with an independent credit company for this purpose.
Can you still modify the duration during the contract?
Yes, you can. Bear in mind that your contract (and the monthly amount due) will then be modified as well.
Who can I contact for this? If you already have a Private Lease vehicle, contact mycar@leaseplan.be If your Private Lease vehicle has not yet been delivered, send an email to private@leaseplan.be
Can LeasePlan still refuse to order my Private Lease car even if I originally received a notification of approval and a unilaterally signed contract ?
Yes. This means that the information you entered on the website does not provide an accurate picture of your actual financial situation based on the supporting documents. The supporting documents are decisive in deciding whether or not to proceed with the lease contract. LeasePlan will always inform you about this by telephone and then in writing.
Do I have a reconsider period?
Yes, there is a legal reconsideration period of 14 days. This starts on the receipt date of your signed Lease contract.
Can I conclude a lease contract in the event of attachment of wages, if I am in debt mediation or if my income is arranged through a lawyer?
No, this is not possible. If you do apply and we then see that you are in such a situation based on the proof of income, LeasePlan will withdraw from the lease and the lease contract will therefore be cancelled.
What happens if I lose my job?
It goes without saying that we hope this will not happen. However, if you think will be unable to pay your monthly lease amount due to losing your job, please contact MyCar by email to mycar@leaseplan.be. You can also consult the General Terms and Conditions about this.
What happens if the person who signed the lease contract dies ?
This is not a nice question, but it is an important one. It is important for the next of kin to contact MyCar. Send them an email at: mycar@leaseplan.be. We can then discuss the possibilities together. However, your next of kin must still comply with the agreements made with us, such as the payment of outstanding lease amounts and other costs as well as the return of the car in accordance with the agreements.
How will I be protected if I have Private Lease ?
Renta, the Belgian Federation of Vehicle Rental Companies, has drawn up a code of conduct to which Private Lease providers must adhere. It is extra protection for you as a private lessee. If you take a Private Lease car from us, we advise you to read this code of conduct. It applies to all agreements for the long-term operational lease of vehicles and new agreements concluded from 1 October 2019. You can read it here.
What are the payment options?
The monthly payment for your lease contract must be made by direct debit from your account. This is the only payment option.
How can I end my lease agreement?
Termination before your chosen term is only possible under certain circumstances. You will find these in the terms and conditions.
