Why do I get some fines through LeasePlan and others directly?
The Federal Police can identify the driver of the car and issue the fine directly in the offender's name using FMS, a digital platform for vehicle registration holders and the Crossroads Bank for Vehicles. ANTAI, the French national agency for automatic offence processing, is also connected to the platform. If we don't have the necessary details for the driver, the report will be sent to your employer.
Parking companies, municipalities or other foreign authorities do not have access to this platform and will send the fine to the holder of the vehicle registration. LeasePlan will process the documents and send all documents to the lawful recipient by email.
I've received a fine and don't agree with it.
You must dispute the fine with the authority issuing the notice. Traffic offences can be disputed via the Justice website: www.verkeersboetes.be.
With regard to foreign fines or parking fines, you will find instructions on how to dispute such a fine on the notice provided by the issuing authority.
I've received a traffic fine but don't (or no longer) drive this car.
If you were not driving the vehicle at the time of the offence, you must dispute the fine through formal channels via www.trafficfines.be. LeasePlan is not authorised to dispute the fine for you as the fine has been issued in your name.
With regard to foreign fines or parking fines, it is best to inform your employer and LeasePlan so we can include the right driver in our file.
I'd like to receive the fine in another language.
The documents concerned have been drawn up by the authority issuing the notice pursuant to the language legislation:
- In Dutch in the Flemish Community
- In French in the French Community
- In German in the German-speaking Community In the Brussels-Capital Region, the documents are drawn up in Dutch or French, depending on the language in which the number plate was registered with the DIV or the language of the official.
You must request a translation from the authority issuing the notice. Obtaining a translation depends on their willingness to do so.
I don't agree with the fine and wish to call on legal assistance.
If you don't agree with a fine, you must first dispute it with the authority issuing the notice. They decide whether the fine will be cancelled or whether you'll still have to pay. Only if you are summonsed can you call on legal assistance. In such a case, please provide us with a copy of your summons.
I've received a reminder, but not the original fine. I don't agree with the increase.
All documents that LeasePlan receives shall be processed and forwarded to the car's driver or the customer. LeasePlan cannot be held responsible for any documents not received. You can ask the authority issuing the notice if they are prepared to cancel the cost of the increase.
Why have I received an invoice for a fine?
If a fine is left unpaid or is not paid on time, LeasePlan may proceed with payment following the receipt of a reminder in order to avoid further costs. Any costs that LeasePlan incurs in this regard shall be passed on, as well as any administrative fees.
I've paid my fine, but still received an invoice from LeasePlan.
If you receive an invoice from LeasePlan, this means that we have received a reminder or writ from a bailiff regarding an outstanding amount.
If you paid the fine on time and used the correct payment reference, send us your proof of payment and we'll draw up a credit note. If you paid the fine late or used an incorrect reference, you are responsible for reclaiming your payment from the issuing party.
I've received a reminder, but I've already paid the fine.
Your payment and the reminder may have crossed paths, and you don't need to take the reminder into account.
If you've not yet paid the fine, contact the authority issuing the notice to settle your file.
