Frequently asked questions
We would like to keep you on the move. Anytime. Anywhere.
My car has been damaged. What should I do?
You can open your claims file via the online tool My LeasePlan if you have insurance in your contract,
- Send us detailed photos (according to these guidelines). That way you won't lose time to have the damage assessed by the repairer.
- Add all necessary documents, such as the European Accident Form or a police report.
Let us know in which region you prefer to be helped so that we can give you the contact details of the repairer closest to you.
LeasePlan will provide you with the contact details of the most suitable repairer so you can make an appointment where and when he can come and pick up your car and return it.
Do I have to file a claim in case of glass breakage/damage?
No, that is not necessary. We ask you to call the telephone number +32 (0)78 150 600 and choose menu point 2. This will connect you with our partner for glass repairs.
When do I need to repair the car?
The car does not need to be repaired immediately as long as there is no risk of additional damage by continuing to drive the vehicle. Also check the car policy between you and your employer, it may contain additional agreements.
My car has been stolen. What do I do now?
You must immediately report the theft to the police. If this happens abroad, you must do this both in Belgium and abroad.
If your contract includes breakdown cover, you can request a replacement car for 5 days via LeasePlan Assistance via 078-150 600. Keep the PV number at hand.
Report the incident to LeasePlan by telephone within 48 hours. We will go through all the necessary steps with you.
My car is at the end of its contract, does any damage need to be repaired?
Not every damage has to be repaired before you return the car at the end of the contract, but you should report the damages via My Leaseplan.
Who is allowed to drive my LeasePlan car?
This is an agreement between you and your employer. Check the car policy between you and your employer or ask your fleet manager. As far as LeasePlan is concerned, anyone with a valid driving licence can drive the car.
When can I use legal assistance?
You can call upon the legal assistance insurance in case of liability disputes. If you are summoned as a result of a traffic offence, you can also appeal for legal assistance. Send us the summons and the details of your chosen lawyer. If you have no preference, legal aid will appoint a lawyer.
I don't have a valid insurance certificate in the car. What can I do?
Since July 2020, the international motor insurance card is no longer green but printed on white paper and sent to you or your employer. In addition, your insurance document is always available to you on My LeasePlan in digital form. You will find the document under the heading 'Vehicle' and then in the left-hand column under 'Documents'.
We recommend that you also send a copy to all occasional users. You must always be able to produce this card in the event of an inspection or accident. This insurance card is valid in all countries which are not crossed out in the list of countries on the card.
When do I have to pay a personal contribution in a claim?
Can we recover the damage from the other party? If so, you do not have to pay an own contribution for that damage. Other damage for which you do not have to pay a ontribution at LeasePlan is glass damage, damage caused by (attempted) theft, fire, collision with animals and natural disasters. If it concerns all of the above-mentioned damage except glass damage, report this to the police before you submit your file to My LeasePlan.
In the event of an accident at fault, or without an opposing party, it is best to consult the car policy between you and your employer for the agreements concerning your personal contribution.
What are the general terms and conditions?
On My LeasePlan you can check whether insurance and claims management are included in your contract with LeasePlan. A car insurance includes several types of cover. We have listed these for you:
- Civil liability: Civil liability insurance compensates for the physical, material or moral damage suffered by others in an accident in which you are at fault
- Legal aid: You have an accident with a third party and you do not reach an agreement? Legal aid will defend your interests
[Driver's insurance: This insurance covers the physical injuries of the driver of the car. Other passengers are covered by the BA insurance
The conditions of risk retention (own damage) can be found in the general terms and conditions of the contract with LeasePlan.
