What is the policy at LeasePlan itself on corona (working at home, for example, and car deliveries) ? To ensure we keep our clients and customers moving, LeasePlan has already implemented a full Covid-19 Response Plan, which includes a global ‘work from home’ policy that is now in full effect for all employees. Overall, it is running very well, and we are available for our customers and partners, either on the phone or online.
In the context of car deliveries, given the unprecedented global supply chain issues that we are now seeing with many car manufactures and dealerships, we are focusing on supporting customer’s mobility needs by extending contracts for current vehicles or providing used car leasing.
Do you already see a decrease/decline of car deliveries and orders (car dealers are saying that the car orders are declining) ? Yes - again due to global supply chain issues, OEM factory closures, and logistical issues with many people self-isolating. We are therefore focusing on supporting customer’s mobility needs by extending contracts for current vehicles or providing used car leasing. Is there less activity in car repair, maintenance and tyre changes? Yes - again due to people self-isolating and logistical issues in many markets that are on lockdown. However, over the past few weeks, we have worked hard both internally and with our network of trusted suppliers to ensure that we can continue to provide the best service possible in the weeks ahead. If customers have critical service requests (i.e., vehicle breakdown, accident support, or legally required inspections), they can of course contact us via the usual channels for immediate assistance. Is there some sort of upside to be mentioned? Yes – we have seen a real sense of community in the fleet industry, with everyone working together during these unprecedented circumstances to implement a robust and timely response plan, and to keep everyone moving where possible.
