No lack of power in the Passat GTE which combines a 1.4 Liter turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor totaling a feisty 215 HP and 400 Nm of torque. The Passat GTE can be driven as a hybrid or in full electric mode up to 50km - ideal for short trips and city driving. This makes the GTE very economical to run, and significantly lowers the overall carbon emissions. Driving in full electric mode is serene and responsive, switch to the turbo engine and the transition is seamless and smooth. Charging the battery happens either through a plug-in or it charges on the move in hybrid mode.

GTE implies sportiness and with an acceleration of 0-100 km/h under 8 seconds and a maximum speed of 225 km/h, it is. But not quite as sporty as the smaller GTI models like the Golf GTI. The Passat GTE is simply a bit too big to be sporty. But it is a relaxing and calm drive, spacious for both passengers and plenty of space for the dog, sports equipment and luggage in the very roomy boot. Ideal for family commutes with plenty of space and power to get everyone where they need to go.
