As part of Hon’ble PM Modi’s vision to helm a renewable-energy revolution in the country, India has embarked upon one of the most ambitious electric-vehicles programs in the world. The country is a signatory to Paris Agreement and aims to switch completely to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030. This move will cut India’s oil bill by $60 billion and reduce emissions by 37%.  This is also in line with LeasePlan’s own sustainability strategy, which includes a commitment to achieve net zero emissions from its total fleet by 2030.

In its continuous endeavour to support climate-related Sustainable Development Goals, LeasePlan India came on board as the “EV Leasing Partner” for the EV India Summit 2018 held on June 18-19. The summit addressed the competitive landscape of electric vehicles worldwide, coupled with the vast opportunities and potential challenges for EV development in India. It was supported by NITI Aayog (Indian Government’s policy think-tank for achieving sustainable development goals) and other prominent Government of India institutions.
