HMRC has published new mileage rates for petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric and LPG vehicles, effective from 1 March 2023

Adjusted every quarter, the per-mile rates are used to reimburse drivers for fuel and electricity used for business journeys, or for employees with a fuel card to repay the cost of private trips.

Most Advisory Fuel Rates (AFRs) have reduced compared to the previous quarter – a period during which the average cost of petrol and diesel fell by 13p and 17p respectively.

The Advisory Electric Rate (AER), which is also now updated every quarter, increased a further 1p per mile having already risen from 5p to 8p in December.
