Vehicles eligible for plug-in grant

The UK Government have announced changes to the plug-in grant (PiG) amounts and eligibility criteria effective from 7:00hrs on 18/03/21.

Grants are administered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), and the criteria and funding levels have tightened as the market has matured. However, there are still several incentives in place to encourage drivers and fleets to switch.

Plug-in Car Grant

OZEV has recently closed the Plug-in Car Grant to new applications. The oldest of the grant schemes had provided up to £1,500 (or 35% of the purchase costs) for vehicles meeting the following criteria:

Plug-in Van Grant

Grants for electric vans were introduced in 2012. These cover up to 35% of the purchase price with funding capped according to the gross vehicle weight (GVW), based on the following criteria:

Small vans (less than 2,500kg GVW) are eligible for grant funding of up to £2,500:

Large vans (2,500-4,250kg GVW) are eligible for grant funding of up to £5,000:

This list is correct as at 12pm 26th May 2021 and will be regularly updated as more vehicles become available.
