Why I am required to do address verification? As a financial institution, LeasePlan is legally obliged to conduct Customer Due Dilligence (CDD) prior to concluding a contract with you and during its term. To perform this Customer Due Dilligence, we are obliged to process your personal data. If you want to know how we handle your personal data and what rights you have, please read our [privacy statement](targetSelf:https://www.leaseplan.com/en-gb/privacy-statement/).Where will the address document be stored? Your photo will be stored with the upmost care. We have a data processing agreement with our partner Onfido that complies with GDPR legislation. For more information about the processing of your personal data, please refer to our [privacy statement](targetSelf:/en-gb/privacy-statement/).How long will my data be stored? We only store data that LeasePlan is obliged to keep that is relevant to the contract. How do I scan a QR code? When you start the check on your desktop, a QR code will appear. You can scan this code with the camera application or a QR code application on your smartphone. You then press the link that appears. After this, the identification process starts in the browser on your smartphone. You may need to enable QR code scanning via your smartphone or download a QR code app. With **iPhone** you do this by navigating to settings > camera > scan QR codes (this slider must be on green). For **Android** phones, not all camera applications have a built-in QR scanner. If your built-in camera app doesn't scan the QR code by itself, you can use a QR code app like Google Lens. How do I give access to my camera? - For i**Phone**, navigate to settings and search for your browser application (e.g. Safari or Google Chrome). You click on the application and scroll to 'Settings on websites'. Here you adjust the setting under 'Camera' to 'Always ask'. If you start the Onfido verification again, the smartphone will ask you to grant access to your camera. This should allow you to proceed in the verification. - On** Android**, go to settings > apps and find the browser you're using. Click on permissions and adjust the access to 'Always ask' for the camera. When you start the Onfido verification again, your smartphone will ask you to grant access to your cameras. This should allow you to proceed in the verification. How do I do the verification via SMS or link instead of the QR code? If scanning the QR code really does not work, you can also choose to receive a link via SMS or to copy it yourself to your smartphone. - To receive the link via **SMS**, click on 'receive a link via SMS' on your desktop. It's at the bottom of the screen where you can scan the QR code. After entering your phone number you will receive an SMS with a link to the verification process. You continue the process as described above. You do not need to scan the QR code. - You can also copy the link yourself. It's at the bottom of the screen where you can scan the QR code. You can type the link yourself in the browser on your smartphone or paste the link in an email to yourself and open the email and link in the browser on your smartphone. You continue the process as described above. You do not need to scan the QR code. Can I also request a lease product without an address check? It is not possible . For request in United Kingdom, we are required by law to perform the address verification. There is no other method to verify your address. What do I do if I don’t have a smart phone?
