Corporate Responsibility
Our responsibilities as a business are part of what we do, every day, throughout the organisation.
Being a responsible business
How we go about our business is important to us – we have got to do it in the right way. Being a responsible business makes complete sense to us as we focus on our customers, business and employees; because without all three we wouldn’t be here today.
We like to keep our responsible business strategy simple – focussing on a few things that really matter to us and doing these well. Whether they’re big or little, we think it all counts and helps us to where we want to be.
Responsible business is a non-stop, continuous thing too so something we’re very conscious we need to keep working at. Here’s a selection of some of the areas we work on:
Employee wellbeing
Happy and healthy employees is good for them and for us. We ran a number of mental health sessions including some on ‘mindfulness’ and a series of nutrition workshops to help employees learn about healthy snacking. We had over 100+ people take part in our popular annual wellness challenge and 44 of our staff attended a Know Your Numbers session too.

Treating customers fairly
Our commitment to our customers is central to how we do business. Being a responsible business means listening to what they tell us and doing what is right for them. We survey our customers twice a year and our most recent results put us in the top half of all UK companies surveyed by the Institute of Customer Service.
Taking care of the environment
We know we have an impact on the environment and we take this responsibility seriously. That’s why we send zero waste to landfill and have ISO140001 certification which gives us a clear approach to improve what we do.
Helping others
We like to do our bit too. In 2017:
- We donated over £23427 to the automotive sector charity BEN
- £6931 for various local charities
- Employees nominate charities for us to support through our dress down day programme
Developing people
An important part of life at LeasePlan UK involves helping our employees to grow both personally and professionally. We believe that developing our people is a vital element in building a successful Company. In 2017, 45% of our vacancies were filled by internal applicants and this included 18 people being promoted. We also run a development programme for our high potential employees called SHINE – last year, 10 employees successfully completed the programme and a further 12 have just started.
Tax policy
We are committed to operating the appropriate framework of systems, processes and controls necessary to ensure the company pays the right amount of tax required under UK law and regulations.
