Electric Driving - Driving range
Questions
What is the range of an electric car?
Depending on the model you can drive about 200 to more than 500 kilometres with a full battery. According to research by SD Worx, the average distance between home and work (back and forth) in Belgium is about 40 kilometres per day. This makes an electric car very suitable for commuting, for example.

Can weather conditions affect my driving range?
In addition to speed and driving style, weather conditions affect the capacity of the battery:
- strong wind
- very low temperatures, so the heating is always running. Unlike a car with a conventional engine using waste heat from the engine, an electric car must generate the heat with energy from the battery.
- Air conditioning, on the other hand, consumes very little battery capacity.

Does my driving range correspond to the manufacturer’s predictions?
The theoretical driving range assumes the most optimal conditions. You should therefore take into account that, certainly during winter, you will not be able to cover the projected distances. However, by adjusting your driving style and limiting your speed, you can increase your driving range.
