Managing Director for Climate and Energy at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development

Claire joined the WBCSD as Managing Director for Climate and Energy in 2020, following a successful political career during which she served as COP26 President-Designate.

Claire O’Neill is Managing Director for Climate and Energy at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a global CEO-led organisation representing a combined revenue of over $8 trillion and 19 million employees, and a leading voice for business sustainability for over 25 years.

Before joining the WBCSD in 2020, Claire enjoyed a long and successful political career in the United Kingdom (UK). As Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth, she spearheaded the UK’s Clean Growth and Green Finance Strategies, brought forward the country’s ground-breaking Net Zero legislation, and oversaw the deployment of £3 billion of international climate finance, among other achievements. In addition, Claire led the UK’s winning bid to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP26, and served as COP26 President-Designate until she left politics in 2020.

Alongside her role as a WBCSD Managing Director, Claire holds several non-executive director roles and serves as a Senior Advisor to FTI Consulting and Public Policy Projects. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and the Energy Institute and holds a bachelor’s degree from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Berno has led the commercial side of LeasePlan’s transition to a zero-emission fleet since the company joined the EV100 as a founding member in 2017.

Berno Kleinherenbrink, Chief Commercial Officer of LeasePlan Corporation, has led the commercial side of LeasePlan’s transition to zero-emission EVs since the company joined the EV100 as a founding member in 2017. Alongside his position as CCO, Berno serves as Cluster Director for Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, and is responsible for account and sales management activities across LeasePlan. He was previously Managing Director of LeasePlan Netherlands.

Gine Nauta

Global Account Director

With her extensive experience across international business, law and sales, Gine plays a key role in supporting LeasePlan’s global customers in their transition to sustainable mobility.

LeasePlan’s Global Account Director, Gine Nauta, has enjoyed a long and successful career in the fields of international business, corporate law and international sales and account management. During her 17 years with LeasePlan, she has worked with numerous industries and has a particularly strong track record in leading highly strategic and complex accounts on a global level. Gine also plays a key role in supporting LeasePlan’s global customers in their transition to sustainable mobility.

Mike Lightfoot oversees the development and implementation of LeasePlan’s global sustainability strategy and its corporate positioning. He also advises senior management on sustainability priorities.

As Chief Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Officer at LeasePlan, Mike Lightfoot oversees the company’s corporate positioning, international stakeholder relationships and overall reputation management. He is also responsible for developing and implementing LeasePlan’s global sustainability strategy, and for advising senior management on sustainability priorities. Before joining LeasePlan, Mike was Head of External Affairs at AkzoNobel, where he developed the company’s partnerships with the World Economic Forum, the United Nations and The Rockefeller Foundation.
